over 500 years; with the digitally displayed word for a little over
50. ActiveText explores new ways of employing typography and texts
in the new medium. Sometimes we blow text up, sometimes we sculpt
it into organic shapes, sometimes we make it bark like a dog. [

Sharks

much data, hidden so well. Machines Like Sharks investigated 'emergent
aesthetics' in order to support alternative forms of browsing large

Dynamic Poetry
1994 -1997
|
The Dynamic Poetry project looked at the creative requirements
for developing a computer-centric poetic aesthetic while simultaneously
exploring functional capabilities. Composed equally of theoretical
and historical investigation and practical experimentation, Dynamic
Poetry investigated ways of re-designing the inscribed word for
a computer-based environment.

The Glass Bead Project

Hermann Hesse's Nobel Prize-winning novel Das Glasperlenspiel
(The Glass Bead Game) prefigured the conceptual spirit of
the Net just as much as Vannevar Bush's As We May Think anticipated
its functional shape. The Glass Bead Game encompasses all symbolic
systems and provides enlightenment via understanding their interplay;
The Glass Bead Project was a comparative media project which sought
to understand how the interplay between different digital media
could lead to a deeper understanding of how people communicate.
